Our History
The Worcester Elim Pentecostal Church was founded in the 1950’s and has been at our present location ever since. We are a group of all ages from a wide variety of backgrounds. We have found Jesus Christ a true friend who helps us in life and who gives forgiveness, peace, joy and the fulfilment we all desire. Christianity is relevant for life today and you are most welcome to come and join with us.
The Elim Pentecostal Church was founded in Ireland in 1915 and grew rapidly as a result of the great evangelistic crusades by George Jeffreys, the founder of Elim. The Elim Pentecostal Church is part of the worldwide Pentecostal movement that has many millions of members.
The name ‘Elim’ is taken from the book of Exodus. The Israelites came to Elim where there were twelve wells of water and seventy palm trees and they camped by the waters (Exodus 15:27).
The oasis in the wilderness is a fitting symbol for a church that desires to be a place where people can find rest, salvation, and refreshment in the wilderness of this world.
Elim continues to grow and today there are over 500 churches in the UK, and nearly 9000 world-wide.
